Unlike conventional CAB-produced automotive radiators, these intercooler bricks are manufactured using Fluxless Vacuum Brazing (VAB) in a high-vacuum furnace with magnesium getters. The result is a 100% flux-free brazed core with zero corrosive flux residue inside the intercooler.

Why Fluxless Vacuum Brazing Matters

Not all aluminum heat exchangers are manufactured the same way.

While Controlled Atmosphere Brazing (CAB) is widely used for conventional automotive radiators and heat exchangers, the Großartig Brick uses Fluxless Vacuum Brazing (VAB) for this high-precision intercooler application.

During manufacturing, the complete aluminum assembly is brazed inside a high-vacuum furnace using magnesium getters, allowing the aluminum components and brazing alloy to form their joints without the use of brazing flux.

No internal flux. No corrosive flux residue. No leftover brazing chemicals circulating on the coolant side.

For an intercooler brick that lives inside the supercharger and is expected to survive repeated heat cycles, coolant exposure, and elevated boost pressure, we believe the quality of those internal joints matters.

Engineered for Reliability

Reinforced 4000-Series Aluminum Brazing

The Großartig Brick uses 4000-series aluminum brazing alloy combined with precise gap control to produce strong, consistent joints throughout the core.

This construction is specifically intended to improve strength in the areas that matter and reduce the risk of the problems these intercooler bricks are notorious for: coolant leaks and intercooler brick deformation or "bloating" under demanding conditions.

We aren't selling these because we think an intercooler brick needs a flashy name and an enormous markup. We found an OE-style replacement with a manufacturing process and brazing construction we were comfortable putting our name behind, and wanted to make it available at a sensible price.

Flux-Free Internal Construction

The VAB process eliminates the need for brazing flux entirely, leaving zero corrosive flux residue inside the finished intercooler.

For a component whose internal coolant passages aren't exactly easy to inspect or clean once installed, that's a manufacturing detail worth paying attention to.

Metal Bleed Screw

The factory-style plastic bleeder can become brittle, strip, or otherwise turn a simple cooling-system service into an unnecessary headache.

The Großartig Brick replaces it with a metal bleed screw for a more durable, service-friendly solution.

OE-Equivalent Thermal Performance

The goal here isn't to make unrealistic horsepower claims.

The Großartig Brick retains factory-specification fin density and OE-style core geometry to provide the cooling characteristics expected from a properly functioning factory intercooler brick.
