Vorsprung Artus-Sturm Street Ported Supercharger Service, Audi 3.0T Eaton R1320/TVS1320 (S4/S5/Q5/SQ5/A6/A7/A8/Q7)
Audi 3.0T Ported Supercharger Service: Street Port for the Eaton R1320 (TVS1320)
Precision airflow porting by AKMSpeed x Vorsprung Autowerk. A ported supercharger service re-profiles the inlet and outlet ports of your Audi 3.0T's Eaton R1320 (TVS1320) supercharger case to cut airflow restriction. On average, customers can expect about 2 to 3 psi more boost at the same pulley and a total potential gain of 20-40 whp, depending on tune, fueling and supporting mods.
Audi built a very good blower and then bolted it inside a housing cast for the assembly line, not for the last psi of airflow. Swapping in another stock unit gets you the same restrictive ports plus a generous helping of Audi Tax. Our answer: keep your own supercharger, let Arthur at AKMSpeed reshape the ports, and get it back in about 2 weeks with fresh oil and return shipping already paid.
- ✅ Fits the Gen 1 EA837 3.0T: S4, S5, Q5, SQ5, A6, A7, A8 and Q7, with a year-by-year table below. Own a CREC car? Use the CREC street port instead.
- ✅ About 2 weeks from the day your core arrives: not the month-plus wait some shops quote. Return shipping is included in the price.
- ✅ Fresh oil and a full decontamination wash: every unit is stripped, cleaned of porting debris and refilled with premium-grade supercharger oil before it ships.
- ✅ Optional bearing rebuild (+$100): refresh a high-mileage unit while the case is open.
- ✅ No-wait option: choose "No" under "Sending in your core?" and we supply a pre-ported unit that is ready to ship.
- ✅ Stackable add-ons: throttle body porting and Ultracharger and Superduper porting, $150 each.
Bottom line: keep your blower, lose the restriction. Street-ported, cleaned, fresh-oiled and on its way back to you in about 2 weeks, with return shipping already paid.
Street Port vs Race Port: Which One Fits Your Build?
Both services follow the same five-step process. The difference is how far the port work goes.
| Street Port (this page) | Race Port | |
|---|---|---|
| Port work | Precision re-profile of the inlet and outlet ports | More aggressive, race-spec port job |
| Typical potential gain | 20-40 whp | 30-50 whp |
| Built for | Daily-driven and street-tuned cars | Built cars with supporting fuel and tuning |
| Turnaround | About 2 weeks from core receipt | About 2 weeks from core receipt |
| Return shipping | Included | Included |
| Starting price with your core | $749.99 | $1,024.99 |
Daily-driven or street-tuned? You are in the right place. Built car with supporting fuel and tuning, chasing every last bit of airflow? Look at the Gen 1 race port. Not sure? Email your mod list to help@vorsprungautowerk.com.
What Porting Does to an Eaton R1320 (TVS1320)
The Eaton TVS (Twin Vortices Series) R1320 is a Roots-type supercharger: twin rotors trap air at the inlet port and push it out through the outlet port toward the charge air cooler and the engine. Every rough casting surface, sharp transition and pinch point along that path costs airflow. Porting reshapes the inlet and outlet ports so the air takes a smoother, freer route through the case.
The payoff is more airflow at the same pulley and RPM, which is where the extra boost comes from. The catch is that more air needs more fuel and a tune that knows about it, so line up your tune and fueling before you pull the supercharger.
The AKMSpeed Process: From Your Core to a Ported, Serviced Supercharger
Every unit goes through the same five steps, so what comes back is clean, serviced and ready to bolt on.
-
Disassembly and inspection: your supercharger is fully stripped down and the factory oil is drained.
-
Precision porting: Arthur at AKMSpeed re-profiles the inlet and outlet ports of the R1320 case to optimize the airflow path.
-
Decontamination: the case gets a thorough cleaning to remove every metal shaving and bit of debris left by the porting stage.
-
Fluid service: the unit is reassembled and refilled with premium-grade supercharger oil.
-
Optional maintenance: add a full bearing rebuild (+$100) to refresh a high-mileage unit while it is already apart.
Typical Results From a Street Port
The Eaton R1320 responds well to porting. On average, customers can expect:
-
Boost: about 2 to 3 psi more than an unported supercharger on the same pulley.
-
Power: a total potential gain of 20-40 whp.
-
The fine print: your numbers depend on your tune, fueling, pulley and supporting mods. Treat these as a typical range, not a promise.
Real-World Results: Street Port Quarter Mile Times
A timeslip tells you what a dyno sheet cannot. Here is a before and after Dragy GPS performance report from a street-ported Eaton R1320 supercharger on an Audi 3.0T:
-
Quarter mile: 11.23 s at 122.15 mph before, 10.92 s at 124.06 mph after. That is 0.31 s quicker and 1.91 mph faster.
-
Eighth mile: 7.39 s at 97.63 mph before, 7.19 s at 98.62 mph after.
-
60 ft, 330 ft and 1000 ft: 1.75 s, 4.89 s and 9.46 s before, then 1.67 s, 4.74 s and 9.17 s after.
-
Test conditions: 59 degrees F, 886 ft elevation and 1,261 ft density altitude on both runs, each logged as a valid Dragy run.
-
Test car setup: street-ported supercharger, 80mm inlet, ported hemi throttle body (throttle body porting is a separate add-on), Stage 2+ tune and 93 octane. The after run reflects that full setup, not the port alone.
-
The fine print: Dragy is a GPS timing device, not a dyno, and this is one car. Your times depend on your tune, fueling, pulley, traction and supporting mods.
How Ordering Works: Core, Rebuild and Finish Options
This listing has three options. Here is what each one does:
-
Sending in your core? Yes: you ship us your supercharger (your "core"), we port it and send it back about 2 weeks after it arrives. This is a mail-in service, so you are responsible for shipping your core to our shop. Return shipping is included in the price.
-
Sending in your core? No: skip the wait. This option supplies a pre-ported unit that is ready for immediate dispatch. Email help@vorsprungautowerk.com with any questions about availability or core exchange before you order.
-
Bearing rebuild? Yes (+$100): a full bearing rebuild while the case is open, a good idea for a high-mileage unit.
-
Color, Factory or Custom (+$50): Factory keeps the stock housing finish. Custom is for buyers who want a different housing appearance after porting.
-
Add-ons (+$150 each): throttle body porting and Ultracharger and Superduper porting are separate listings. Add them to the same order and we perform them together.
Vehicle Fitment
This service fits the Gen 1 supercharged Audi 3.0T (EA837, Eaton R1320 / TVS1320): the S4 (B8 2010-2012, B8.5 2013-2016), the S5 (B8 Cabriolet 2010-2012, B8.5 2013-2017), the Q5 3.0T (B8.5 2013-2017), the SQ5 (B8.5 2014-2017), the A6 and A7 (C7 2012-2015), the A8 3.0T (D4 2013-2014) and the Q7 3.0T (4L 2011-2015). Not sure your core qualifies? Email your VIN or part number before ordering.

| Audi | S5 | 2013-2017 | B8.5 | 3.0T V6 Supercharged (Gen 1 EA837, Eaton R1320) |
| Audi | Q5 3.0T | 2013-2017 | B8.5 | 3.0T V6 Supercharged (Gen 1 EA837, Eaton R1320) |
| Audi | SQ5 | 2014-2017 | B8.5 | 3.0T V6 Supercharged (Gen 1 EA837, Eaton R1320) |
| Audi | A6 and A7 | 2012-2015 | C7 | 3.0T V6 Supercharged (Gen 1 EA837, Eaton R1320) |
| Audi | A8 (3.0T) | 2013-2014 | D4 | 3.0T V6 Supercharged (Gen 1 EA837, Eaton R1320) |
| Audi | Q7 (3.0T) | 2011-2015 | 4L | 3.0T V6 Supercharged (Gen 1 EA837, Eaton R1320) |
S5 / A5 NOTE: 2010-2012 fitment is the S5 Cabriolet only (the 2008-2012 S5 coupe has the 4.2 V8). The A5 was never sold with the supercharged 3.0T in North America; the European-market B8.5 A5 3.0 TFSI (2012-2016) uses the same EA837 engine, so confirm your engine code before ordering.
NOTE: Have a CREC engine code car (A6 and A7 2016-2018, A8 2015-2018, Q7 2017-2019)? Your core needs extra machine work, so see our CREC street port instead. Cars built near a model-year changeover are the ones to double check: email help@vorsprungautowerk.com with your VIN or part number and we will confirm.
Gen 1 or CREC? Check Before You Order
This listing is for Gen 1 EA837 cars. If your A6, A7, A8 or Q7 is a later model (A6 and A7 2016-2018, A8 2015-2018, Q7 2017-2019), it has the Gen 2 CREC engine and needs the CREC street port instead. Your engine code is printed on the vehicle data sticker, usually in the service booklet and the spare wheel well. Not sure? Email your VIN to help@vorsprungautowerk.com and we will confirm before you ship anything.
Service Underneath While the Supercharger Is Off
Once your supercharger is out, everything that lives underneath it is easy to reach: the thermostat housing, water pump, PCV valve, intake manifold gaskets and injector seals. Doing them now means you pay for that labor once instead of twice. The parts come bundled in our OE Ultimate Under Supercharger Kit. Pick the one for your car: B8 S4 and S5 Cabriolet (2010-2012), B8.5 S4, S5, Q5 and SQ5 (2013 and up) and A8 (2013-2014) or C7 A6, A7 and 4L Q7. 2012 A6 and A7 built before May 2012 need the 2012 C7 kit.

Ported Supercharger Service FAQ
What does a ported supercharger do on an Audi 3.0T?
It cuts airflow restriction through the inlet and outlet ports of the Eaton R1320 (TVS1320) case, so the blower moves more air at the same pulley and RPM. On average, customers can expect about 2 to 3 psi more boost, and that extra boost is where the power comes from.
How much power does a street-ported supercharger add?
On average, a total potential gain of 20-40 whp, depending on your tune, fueling, pulley and supporting mods. Every car is different, so treat that as a typical range rather than a guarantee. For a real-world data point, see the Dragy results above: one street-ported car went from 11.23 s to 10.92 s in the quarter mile.
Is porting a supercharger worth it?
If you want more boost without changing your pulley, or you already run a tune and want the blower to keep up with the rest of the car, yes. If your car is staying completely stock, you can skip it, because porting pays off once a tune takes advantage of the added airflow.
Do I need a tune after porting my supercharger?
There is no separate "ported supercharger" tune. Start with a reputable Stage tune and have your tuner confirm it covers the extra airflow, especially if you also run a smaller crank pulley. More air needs more fuel, so check your fuel system headroom at the same time.
Will a ported supercharger work with my stock pulley?
Yes. The service is designed to raise your boost ceiling without a pulley change. When you want more later, it pairs well with the TruDrive crank pulley, and our crank pulley guide covers sizes and installation.
How long does ported supercharger service take, and can I skip the wait?
About 2 weeks from the day your core arrives at our shop, with return shipping included. Some shops quote a month or more, so that is a short turnaround. If you cannot afford any downtime, choose "No" under "Sending in your core?" to order a pre-ported unit that is ready to ship.
How much does a ported supercharger cost?
The Gen 1 street port starts at $749.99 when you send in your core, and pre-ported units without a core start at $1,449.99. A bearing rebuild adds $100, the Custom housing finish adds $50, and throttle body or Ultracharger and Superduper porting adds $150 each. On the send-in path, return shipping is already in the price.
What is included in the service?
Full disassembly and inspection, precision porting of the inlet and outlet ports, a decontamination wash to remove every metal shaving, reassembly, a fill of premium-grade supercharger oil and return shipping. A bearing rebuild is optional.
Should I choose the street port or the race port?
Pick the street port for a daily-driven or street-tuned car. Pick the race port if the car is built, with the tune, fueling and hardware to use the most airflow the case can deliver. Not sure? Email your mod list to help@vorsprungautowerk.com and we will point you to the right one.
Is my car Gen 1 or CREC, and will it fit?
This listing covers the Gen 1 cars: S4 (2010-2016), S5 (2010-2017), Q5 3.0T (2013-2017), SQ5 (2014-2017), A6 and A7 (2012-2015), A8 3.0T (2013-2014) and Q7 3.0T (2011-2015). Later A6, A7, A8 and Q7 models carry the Gen 2 CREC engine and belong on the CREC street port listing. Your engine code is printed on the vehicle data sticker, usually in the service booklet and the spare wheel well, or email your VIN to help@vorsprungautowerk.com and we will confirm.
What should I do while my supercharger is off the car?
Replace what lives underneath it: the thermostat housing, water pump, PCV valve, intake manifold gaskets and injector seals. Our OE Ultimate Under Supercharger Kit bundles them, with versions for the B8, the B8.5 and the C7 A6, A7 and 4L Q7.
Is a ported supercharger the same as port and polish?
People use the terms loosely. What we do is re-profile the inlet and outlet ports of your R1320 case for better airflow, then clean it thoroughly and refill it with fresh oil.
