C7 vs C7.5 (Gen 1 vs Gen 2 CREC) Fitment

Early C7 A6 and A7 models (2012 to 2015) use the Gen 1 supercharged 3.0T. The C7.5 facelift (2016 to 2018) moved to the Gen 2 CREC engine, which changes several cooling, PCV and supercharger parts. How do I tell if my A6 or A7 is Gen 1 or Gen 2 (CREC)?
Gen 1 covers the earlier cars and Gen 2 CREC covers the 2016 to 2018 C7.5 facelift. Check your engine code, or email us your VIN and we will confirm.

Do I need a tune after an exhaust upgrade?
A tune is strongly recommended for test pipes. High flow cats and most other parts do not strictly require one but work best with one.
